2008 on recent stem cell legislation and policy initiatives at GTCbio's 4th
International Conference on Stem Cell Research & Therapeutics in Boston, MA.

Senator Richard Moore who is chairman of the Joint Committee on Health Care
Financing is actively involved in current stem cell legislation to reverse
restrictions on stem cell research. The research limits, drafted by Governor Mitt
Romney\'s aides and adopted by the state Public Health Council, generated widespread
criticism from scientists and leading legislators.

Senator Moore will highlight some of the key stem cell issues the state will face in
2008 and in the coming years, including the announcement of Massachusetts' $1
billion stem cell plan. The money would go to support research and enhancing the
work being done at public universities in the state, as well as the creation of a
stem cell bank and a repository of stem cell lines that could be used by researchers
all over the world.
